How to Fix a Ghost Town Community in 14 Days
Members joined but nobody posts. Here's the seed-and-ritual playbook that turns silence into daily engagement.
The Problem
You have 200 members and the feed hasn't moved in three days. New members join, scroll for four seconds, and never come back. Every founder hits this — and most respond by posting harder, which makes it worse.
Why It Happens
Members don't post first. They wait to see what the room feels like. If the last post is 3 days old, they conclude the community is dead and leave. Silence compounds.
You break the silence with structure, not enthusiasm.
The 3-Part Playbook
1. Seed 5 (Week 1)
DM your 10 most engaged members. Ask each of them, personally, to post one question or win this week. Give them the exact prompt: "Hey — I'm re-launching the community rhythm. Would you post one question you're stuck on this week? It would mean a lot."
Aim for 5 posts in week 1. That's your seed.
2. Reply Within 60 Minutes
Every single post in the first 30 days gets a thoughtful reply from you inside an hour. Not "great post 🔥" — a real response that moves the conversation forward. This trains members that posting = attention.
Turn on Skool push notifications on your phone. Treat it like a customer support job. It is.
3. Install a Weekly Ritual
Pick ONE recurring post that runs every week, same day, same time. Options:
- Monday Wins: everyone shares one win from the past week.
- Wednesday Stuck: everyone shares one thing they're stuck on.
- Friday Focus: everyone shares their #1 priority for next week.
Rituals give members a reason to open the app on a specific day. Pick one, commit for 6 weeks, don't miss.

The First-Week Post Calendar
- Day 1 — Founder story: why you started this community.
- Day 2 — A specific tactical tip your members can use today.
- Day 3 — A question: "What's the #1 thing you're trying to figure out right now?"
- Day 4 — Spotlight a member (with their permission).
- Day 5 — Launch your weekly ritual for the first time.
- Day 6 — Behind-the-scenes / personal update.
- Day 7 — Recap + preview of next week.
Do This Today
Pick your weekly ritual. Write the first version of the post. Schedule it for the next appropriate day. Then DM 3 members and ask them personally to post a question this week.
