How to Choose a Skool Niche You Won't Quit

The biggest reason Skool communities fail is niche selection. Here's a 4-part filter to pick something profitable and sustainable.

The Niche Filter

A great Skool niche sits at the intersection of four things:

  1. You have credibility — you've done the thing or helped others do it.
  2. People are already paying — there are courses, coaches, or products in the space.
  3. There's a transformation — members go from Point A to Point B.
  4. You enjoy the topic — you'll be talking about it for years.

Run every idea through this filter. If it fails one test, keep looking.

Warning Signs of a Bad Niche

  • "Everyone" is your target member.
  • You can't name 10 people actively trying to solve this problem.
  • The topic is too broad ("business") or too narrow ("left-handed ukulele players in Nebraska").
  • You'd be embarrassed to tell friends what your community is about.

The "Earn While You Validate" Approach

Instead of building for 6 months, launch a tiny free community around your niche. Post for 30 days. If you can't attract 50 engaged members, pivot before you invest in paid infrastructure.

Next Steps

Once you've picked a niche, the next move is setting up your Skool group. Our Skool Community Launchpad walks you through it step by step.
